Black Femme Opine welcomes submissions from all who have the following to share:

  • Personal stories;

  • Short fictional pieces;
  • Opinion pieces;
  • Lifestyle/Showcase pieces;
  • Reviews;
  • Commentaries;
  • Policy briefs

There is no set topic of focus for submissions, but the following topics are encouraged:

  • Africa/ns
  • Africans in the Diaspora
  • Development
  • Social or Economic Issues Faced by Africans
  • Politics
  • Women and Gender Equality
  • Issues Faced by Women
  • Race Relations
  • Issues Faced by Black People
  • African Culture and Art
  • Popular Culture
  • Current Events
  • Life as an African Millennial
  • Love and Relationships
  • Black-led Innovations

Submissions must be no more than 2,000 words max. They must also be in any Word format. For uniformity purposes, all submitted pieces must be in English. Please include your name and short bio alongside your submission. You may choose to be anonymous too. You may also include pictures and tags that you would like to be included in your written piece, if it is chosen to be published.

All submissions must be sent to, and we will aim to get back to you within 2 days.

There are no strict requirements for submissions, however all we ask is that submissions be void of any form of bigotry or discrimination, whether it’s gender-based, racial, ethnic, national or religious. Any submission including the aforementioned will be rejected.

*Due to budget restraints, Black Femme Opine will not provide payment for any submission.
